Indian white wines are the stars of the current wine market. Indian winemakers have been mastering red wine whereas white wines have been just present. It has been the last few years that the concentration on white wines has taken the game to a different league. One of the main factors has also been the increased interest of the consumer towards white wines.

From barrel aging, barrel fermentation, reserve wines to vineyard specific wines; everything is being tried and successfully launched in the market. Below listed are the best white wines from the portfolio of Indian winemakers.

Grover Zampa Vijay Amritraj White

The wine is from the Vijay Amritraj collection of wines by Grover Zampa, an ode to the legendary Indian tennis player. This white wine is made of Viognier grape varietal that is barrel fermented. This provides the vanilla notes to the wine along with the trademark viognier aromas of peach, honey, and white flowers.

Grover Zampa La Reserve White

The white wine from the famed la reserve lineup of Grover Zampa. This wine is a barrel-fermented Viognier that ages on lees. A fragrant wine with notes of honeysuckle, apricot, pineapple, and soft oak notes. What makes the la reserve highly desirable is the price factor. It is one of the most pocket-friendly reserve wine.

KRSMA Estates Sauvignon Blanc

One of the best white wines and undoubtedly the best Sauvignon Blanc from India. It is an oaked Sauvignon Blanc that has the herbaceous aromas with gooseberry, melon, citrus, and grapefruit. It has the trademark Sauvignon Blanc acidity; a well-balanced wine that one can get confused with a good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

Fratelli J’NOON White

One of the best reserve white wines from India. It is a collaboration between Fratelli and Jean-Charles Boisset, famed vintner, and the proprietor of Boisset Collection. A well-balanced blend of Chardonnay (60%) and Sauvignon Blanc (40%) from the best plots of Fratelli vineyards. It is a limited bottling of around 2400 bottles of oak-aged reserve wine.

Combines the Chardonnay notes of stone fruit, pear, and green apples with the vibrant citrus, white pepper, and herbaceous notes of Sauvignon Blanc.

Vallonne Vineyards Viognier Reserve

Another good quality viognier reserve wine from India. Vallonne is turning tables with their wines and few experts consider this wine to be the best expression of Viognier from India. Aromatic notes of passion fruit, peach, apricots, and lime candy with hints of minerality and soft oak notes from barrel aging.

Sula Riesling

A delightful wine with delicious notes tropical notes of pears, peaches, and honey. Yes, it lacks the minerality of a traditional German Riesling but it is still worth a try. It is a refreshing wine to try on its own and a very good wine to pair with food.
