As the environmental issues of the world are on the rise, everyone is trying their best including liquor companies to support the ecosystem by introducing and creating more sustainable and environmentally friendly products.
Recently, a wine paper bottle was announced by Frugalpac which is 94% recycled paper board with a food liner that helps hold the wine, the bottle has been estimated to be 5 times lighter than the conventional wine bottle! This product would have 6 times less of a carbon footprint than regular wine bottles.
And today, Diageo outlasted everyone by introducing the World’s first 100% plastic free bottle.
Diageo Announces the world’s first 100% plastic-free & a fully recyclable spirit bottle
Diageo, makers of Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, and Guinness have announced today that they have created the world’s first-ever 100% plastic-free paper-based spirits bottle which is made entirely from wood that is sustainably stored. The plastic free bottle is to be introduced in 2021 with world’s best scotch whiskey, Johnnie Walker.
This incredible initiative by Diageo Brands has been launched by a partnership with a venture management company, Pilot Lite. Pilot Lite is all set to launch Pulpex Limited, a new and incredible company that produces sustainable packaging technology.
Pulpex Limited is putting technology to better use and taking the relevance of sustainable measures into consideration, it has established a partnership with some of the most well-known FMCG companies in non-competing categories. Some of their partners include PepsiCo, Unilever, etc. More partnerships like this are to be announced throughout the year.
We can expect a great change in the world as the consortium partners are each expecting to launch their own branded paper bottles, based on Pulpex Limited’s design and technology, in 2021.
Diageo’s invention is the first of its kind and is developed and designed to be 100% plastic-free and would be fully recyclable. The bottle is made out of sustainably sourced and will meet all food-safe standards!
Pulpex Limited’s futuristic technology will allow brands to rethink their packaging designs, or move existing designs into paper, whilst not compromising on the existing quality of the product.
This is surely a step towards the United Nations sustainable development goal 12: ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ that Diageo is fully committed to!
