An old form of cider was going around in North America, they drank it with a hot cinnamon stick and called it hard cider to differentiate it from the non-alcohol version of the drink.
Cider came from England but was not well-known until it was invaded by the Romans. The Romans and Greek had already perfected cider making by the time Roman decided to invade England. Cider facts also state that England, France, and Spain were one of the first countries to learn and perfect the cider recipe. This is further proved by the artwork from that time.
One of the most interesting cider facts is that before the 20th-century people trusted cider over water! Yes, water carried diseases like cholera, typhoid fever, and etc; not much was known about these diseases at the time but it was definite that they were carried by water. So, people resorted to sipping on cider because it was only mildly alcoholic, could be stored, and did not carry any bacteria.
